Now that Vanbar has closed in Sydney (which is very depressing), is there anywhere to get chemistry?

I really don't want to have to pay for delivery from Melbourne for a courier that will only come when I'm at work.

I agree about the cost of their delivery .... I waited a week to get one delivery a short while back and had to sit at home for three days in a row to sign for it via StarTrack; a really lousy courier service. I now shop with Chris at Blanco Negro over on Botany Rd. quite near Redfern rail. Shame on Vanbar!!! And best of luck.Cheers,Sam

Thanks. It really looks like that is the only option.

I wonder how much longer chemistry will even be available in the country=/

There is also Photoresource and Newdark but I prefer the human contact with Chris at Blanco Negro and I hate having to wait for couriers .....Cheers!Sam

Do Ted's on Pitt St CBD still stock darkroom stuff? I haven't been there for a couple of years but they had a good range then.
Foto Riesel used to keep decent stock, not sure what it's like now it's a camera warehouse or whoever took it over.
The ACP in Paddington is now stocking Ilford product - they have some film, paper and two film devs at the moment. I was told they will be stocking more chems, not sure which but I presume that if people express interest in buying they will stock it. Good thing about ACP is that it is open 7 days a week so you can even buy stuff on a Sunday. (Disclaimer - I'm a freelance tutor there but not an employee). They also stock Foma paper and Kodak film.

Yeah I think I will organise something with Blanco Negro.

Michael W hit on another sore point lol. Foto Riesel also closed down which is where I was getting/going to get all my colour dev and scans done.

Thanks for the help.

Foto Riesel are still there and still process film. They are just owned by digital camera warehouse now, alas no chemicals though

"ABOUT US
Foto Riesel by Digital Camera Warehouse has been operating since March 2015 on the site of the old Foto Riesel store.

Our team is professional and knowledgeable about all things photography, and we have an extensive range of photographic product. Our fully operational photo lab is also located at the store address."

It might help to know what you are after. "Chemistry" is a broad term. I get some of my chemistry needs from home brew shops and some from vet supplies. Other stuff has to come from the U.S. unless I want 2500kg of it.

Penrith Camera House has a limited range of developer and fixer in stock, and could probably get more if you asked nicely enough. Only downside is the price, which may have something to do with their being located in a Westfield shopping centre...
