where to get C-41 processed

I think I'm going to have my C-41 professionally processed until I can get a better temperature control system going. I only develop a few times a year and thats not enough to get both good and consistent at it. I figure if I can remove processing error from the equation for now, I can focus better on improving my printing. I always farmed out my E-6 when I was printing Cibachromes.

So, who has good results and good prices on 120 and 4x5? The labs I used to use for E-6 are all 100%digital now. I'm in the Midwest but I dont care where I send it.I do care about price, especially on the 4x5.

I can’t really recommend any of them yet because I haven’t shot color in a while. But I can recommend avoiding thedarkroom.com. They do good work with roll film, but I’ve had numerous issues with sheet film from them. Hence why I started that thread.

Try Edgar Praus at Praus Productions. Service is great and he does optical printing, including for contact sheets.

Buy a sous vide circulation machine. It will cost less than sending a stack of 4x5s to a lab.

Maybe eventually. For the near future I want the assurance of a good lab, and remove myself as a variable until I get a reliable system

All I need is film....

I use Praus for all of my large format C-41 film developing and it has always comeback clean, and properly processed.

Praus looks good but is pretty pricey. From that LF thread, Citizens Photo in Portland is way cheaper on 120 than anyone else (3.75/roll vs 8.50 at Praus) and slightly more on 4x5 (which I dont have much of anyway). But I do want to be assured its good, too. My previous labs were all in the PNW and did great work, if that means anything.

I found out my local photo shop still does C-41 at $5/120 roll, but I have no experience with their developing and they don't do 4x5.
