I've just acquired an OM-1 second-hand and after putting a roll of film through it I think it needs servicing as well as new light seals. Can anyone recommend a company/person who can do this in the UK?

The best place is Camtech but it's in the USA. John spent 8 years with Olympus servicing OM cameras.

He's done 3 OM-1s and two OM-2 bodies for me. A plus on the OM-1 service is that he converts the meter to use a 1.5v battery. Highly reccomended.

I've been servicing the OM system since 1977, factory trained, and do a lot of work from EU, Australia, Japan. I don't blame you at all for trying to find a shop closer to home. John

If I were you, I'd "bite the bullet" and send your OM-1 to John H. to work on it, eventho he is here in the USA. You might as well have it worked on by the best.

I had my OM-1n MD CLA'd at Colchester Camera Repair. They are authorised Canon and Olympus repairers. Not only did they do a superb job, they also converted the battery compartment to take a modern button cell.

Plus they are in Britain so you don't have to send the camera overseas.

John H at Camtech does fantastic work. If you can't find a local person who knows what they are doing, send it across the pond. You will be pleased. Bill Barber

Thanks for all the replies, I'll check out the British links and compare the prices. I'm afraid sending it out to the US may be a bit much considering this was supposed to be a cheap travel camera
