Hello,

I'd like an actual chassis mount PC sync socket (female) - short of buying a broken camera/lens and pulling it out of there where can I buy one of these direct ?

If possible I dont want wires hanging out from PC extensions nor ugly hotshoe adaptors - just a nice ol' PC plug with some kind of mounting hopefully 'behind the scenes'

Anyone ?

Kind Regards,
Nick

Nope, he isn't. He's talking about flash sync sockets like the one shown here. I don't know of a good source. A few years ago I saw a bag of 100 on eBay and I regret not buying it then!

Are you talking about the mini USB sockets that connect your camera to your computer via a USB cable?

Dead Link Removed would be one place where you can buy such things.

:D

Erm.....NO! He is talking about a Prontor-Compur flash synch connector...like the kind that REAL cameras have!

heh, yep - no not the the USB kind - but it interesting to note how hard it is to get the kind of relevant results I want for in a search of 'PC sync' in google

Currently I am using an extension wire that was snipped in half - its kinda dangling out and going to wear without ugly tape or cable ties holding it together - ah well, a broken camera will come my way shortly huh !

the PC-- Prontor Compur cable connection was one of the very earliest connections for cables of any kind. Here is an interesting article that includes info on the connection:

http://www.photomemorabilia.co.uk/Ilford/Flash_History.html

I have searched high and low for these connectors and gave up long ago. I know of no cable or connector company that sells them. IF you ever come across info or a place to buy them, please post it by all means....

Those EBAY items were exactly what I was looking for, a year or so ago. I ended up buying one from Carol Miller, who repairs LF lenses.
