I think the first thing I'm going to look for when I get to Toronto is Starbucks - got to have my daily coffee fix.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but while you're in town, you should follow Canuhead's advice and go local -- pay a visit to Second Cup (it is like Starbucks, but Canadian owned and operated -- there is one literally next door to the Roehampton) or to Tim Horton's.

Oh, I'll pay them a visit I'm sure. But, I will have to make a Starbucks run - let's see, I have visted Starbucks in Heidelberg, Germany, Queenstown, New Zealand, Sydney, Australia, Cambridge, England ... and a few other places I don't remember at the moment.

Well since you put it that way...ya gotta keep the run going ! But ya hafta have Tim's while yer here. I consider it the Anti-Starbucks/Second Cup. More a Normal Joe kinda place without the comfy sofas  The doughnuts are also much more substantial than KK, not for those who like their dutchies to taste like cake.

Cheryl,

There is the classic Bovine Sex Club on Queen St. West where an up to date low life visa is required, the Horseshoe Tavern which is a local landmark where famous bands come early in their career i.e. the Police and thousands of local punk, newwave, alt rock bands have played along with the Rolling Stones when they decide to slum. If jazz is your thing the Rex a couple of blocks East towards University Ave has top notch local talent. Two blocks west of the Horseshoe is the Cameron House, a lounge and live performance venue. On College is Sneaky Dee's a local hangout for the Ontario College of Art and Design crowd. On Bloor street is Clintons in Little Korea with a wacked out ski chalet feel to the place. Deep in Kensington Market on Agusta is the Embassy and one block east on Kensington Avenue is the last Temptation two of my favorites in the neighbourhood.

I found a nice divey place or two before coming down with a miserable fever and sore throat, which I'm still enjoying now. I stayed over a few more days, which ended up meaning a change of hotels.... which ended up putting me here in tranvestite hooker central. Yum.

Check out Queen E and Sherbourne. In fact walk around the Arborium and the adjacent park. It's pretty divey. There's a place on Jarvis and Gerrard, who's name escapes me that pretty divey, but you can't miss it. All the trannies hang around there and kitty corner is the Harvey's where the straight girls hang and munch on fries, while waiting for their Johns.

Regards, Art.
