The title says it all - where is a good and economical place to buy a ground glass now that Satin Snow is gone? I have used Dave's glass for years and don't even remember where I used to get it.

So, any suggestions on good alternatives?

Thanks,
Richard

Personally speaking, of course, but I'd just buy a GG and fresnel from Arca Swiss and adapt it for use on your camera.

Is Satin Snow not in business any longer?

Actually, that's a pretty good idea. Arca makes one of the finest gg/fresnel screens I've ever used.

Another idea is Geert Vanden Broeck, who operates under the name Dead Link Removed. I bought a GVB gg for my 7x17, and it is one of the nicest gg screens I've used. But the GVB is only a gg, and has no fresnel.

If you have a smaller camera, up to about 8x10, consider the Maxell screen. Maxwell has no website, but this SITE has his contact info.

I checked BVG but paying $21 shipping on a $14 item doesn't make a lot of sense. There must be some US sources for a decent gg that are ok. Or maybe not...

Cheers,
Richard

I haven't yet because the need hasn't arisen but I see no reason why I wouldn't give this guy a try. Prices seem about comparable to Dave's. Anybody bought from him?

Another vote for the ebay guy mentioned above. I bought one for my 8x10 and it arrived in days, it looks great, and fit perfectly in my old Seneca View.

All ground glass makers should have service like this guy does.

Two pieces of 8x10 glass from home depot, $1.99) and one jar of valve grind compound ($5.00)

make two at a time.

Richard,

that's because I only ship in signed priority mail. No problems with 'lost' items that way...

I'm sure they are great glass, but regardless of the reason, the delivered price puts it out of my league.

Cheers,
Richard
