I just bought my first bulk film loader and I’m wondering what’s the best source in Canada for bulk film, or do you order from the US?
thanks

I'm betting you'll get the best selection from B&H Photo in NY.... Free shipping to Canada over $99.... Here's what they've got. I can't imagine a Canadian source that would stock this selection....

Where are you located? If in Toronto area you can get Ilford from Amplis in Markham.

With the price of shipping via Canada Post, it's a hard sell to buy from Vancouver or Calgary & ship to Toronto. B&H courier shipping for free is hard to compete with. As is the choice of 15+ emulsions in stock, for those out to economize, some as low priced as $63 USD (Arista 400,100ft), or at the other end, Kodak Tmax 100 or 400.

Ya, I’m in Ottawa and to answer my own question I did find these folks in Montreal and they ship for free over a certain dollar amount but their supply of bulk film is limited.

Film Experience Camera Store.

Not a lot in the way of bulk film, but the price is, I think, unbeatable in Canada. And they have lots of chemistry, too. Free shipping on orders over $150.

So have you tried any of their Flic Film chemicals or film? The Black White and Green developer appeals to me as were on a septic system. I just read a few good reviews about the developer online. I’ll have to investigate there film options. Thanks for the heads up.

Don, I'm not sure what you're seeing but the only bulk film i saw was Wolfen for $167 ??

They just have a few options For bulk film. Three of them are their own Flic film and then Kodak Vision3 50D. But their own brand is quite a good price if it worked for you. I’m going to try to find some reviews.

an awful lot of ''currently not available" on their chart....

I usually send an email to Jacques in situations like that (at least for sheet film), and he'll do his best to bring it in. I like supporting him.

Like @kmcsmart said, they have iso100 and iso400 "Ultrapan" film in 100' rolls for ~$90 - which is a hard to beat price.

I’m going to try to find some reviews.

I doubt you'll find reviews. Just a few months ago, they were selling Ultrafine film in bulk - now they have switch to this (which is most-likely Foma - although one could hope it's Kentmere). I ordered a roll of iso400 this morning.

I have ordered from them before. I used their C41 kit (worked as expected) and I am currently using a big jug of fixer (also works as expected).

Thanks, i'm pretty well set using Ilford & Kodak films and don't roll my own. I use far more 120 and sheet film.....
Good luck with your choices.

Amplis has Kentmere 100 and 400 in bulk

The issue with Amplis, Ilford/Harmon's official distributor in Canada, is that it's cheaper to buy that film from B&H.

I usually send an email to Jacques in situations like that (at least for sheet film), and he'll do his best to bring it in. I like supporting him.

Jacques is great. He was the only source for C41 and RA4 chemistry for a long time - not to mention how many bulk chemicals he has.

Amplis has Kentmere 100 and 400 in bulk... and as Eric recommended, The Camera Store, in Calgary. I've dealt with them on several occasions over the years.

Andrew the OP is in Ontario.....Peter & Julian, the founders/owners of The Camera Store are good friends of mine, but I can't see the economy of buying bulk film in Calgary and paying for shipping to Ontario......?

I live outside of Ottawa and have never actually been there as I’m pretty new to photograph but I’m looking for darkroom supplies so I drop in next time I’m in town and see what they have. Thanks, that’s a great idea.

They do carry darkroom supplies too, but before you go , please make sure or call them first, I believe they open in the afternoon only.
