I recently bought a Yashica FX-3 Super (my first fully manual camera). I developed the first 3 rolls of the several rolls I've shot so far, the results of which were very impressive to me. However, I have never been able to confirm that I've been using the correct film speed setting. Where the heck is the 800 speed setting? Through my own meter testing, I concluded that the 800 setting is the dot just before the 1000 ISO setting. I ask this because while some of the photos had just beautiful exposure, some I felt were just the slightest bit over-exposed. I mean, it could just be me, but I don't know.

Another question I had: why are my indoor / low-light portraits so blurry? Could it be that by moving them out of dead center I'm taking my subject out of focus because of shallow depth of field? Maybe I just didn't have them as focused as I thought I did, but some of the results are puzzling.

Anyway, thanks for reading and for any help you can provide.

The film-speed setting is weird indeed:

400 560 640 800 1000

You find this on page 22 of the manual. The manual itself can be found at butkus.com.

This was very helpful. Thank you. I also found this sequence on another forum, in which the poster asked a similar question.

It is
400 500 640 800 1000

A typing error of mine.

And actually that series is not that weird with 100-200-400-1000 major steps instead of 100-200-400-800, as back then there were more 1000 than 800 films on the market.
