I live in SoCal near San Bernardino. I used to have a lab that was local to me that did dip & dunk 4x5" E-6. The have since gone out of business. I was looking for either a somewhat local lab in OC, or sending it out to Burne Photo Imaging in WI. Their prices seem very good $2.55/sheet. Has anyone had any experience with them? Any other recommendations for labs?

I am so bummed that I can't get this done locally. There is nothing like big chromes.

I use very little color but have been using BWC in Texas for transparencies. Their service and quality has been excellent. Check out their website for their services and give them a call to explain your needs.

$2.55/sheet for 4x5 E6 processing! I so wish I lived in the USA just for the chance to get those kind of cheap prices. I have a local photoshop here in France (only 45 minutes drive away from home) that charges 10 euros per sheet (that about $13.15). Best prices I could get are in Paris, only 4.20 euros ($5.50/sheet), but I haven't tried to send my unprocessed sheets there yet lest they get lost by the mail service.

how's $1.70/ sheet sound?

ya, $1.70/sheet for E-6 4x5!!!!

www.samys805.com/film-processing

flawless results from the 250+ sheets I've sent them over the past 1.5 years! They offer C-41 D&D for $1.50/4x5 sheet too!

I send it to them via USPS Priority Mail, usually there the next, or 2nd day.

no problems ever, in billing, or processing!

Dude that is CHEAP, and relatively close by. They probably get a lot of students from Brooks institute there.

Samy's Santa Barbara. Same dip-n-dunks as A and I, but for half as much money, and without the shitty Hollywood attitude and general incompetence of counter personnel. Let's also add the fact that as of yet they have never messed up my film, as A and I has done at least three times beyond repair, and a few other minor times.

How does everyone send their film? In an old three part film box?

That is the standard way to do it. They should return your film in the box unless a total noob lab tech processes it.

I used to use Prolab in Seattle but they stopped doing it. I used R&R Custom Color in Spokane a couple times as recently as 2 years ago, dont know if they're still at it or not but I had no complaints. I never paid more than 1.75/sheet.

Dorian Color Lab in Arlington MA did 4x5 E6 in the past, I think they still do. They had a dip/dunk line. Not sure on the prices for 4x5 though.

Huh, I've always just sent it in the film holders! (I have a lot of them) - they always get returned of course.

It's not unusual for labs to charge extra for "downloading" (really, that's what it's called!) film from the holders. When there was a lot more 4x5 being processed, as I understand it, you weren't guaranteed to get the same holders back, unless you specifically requested it.

I brought a few C-41 Quickloads there a little while back. They still do E-6, I'm pretty sure. They were only doing C-41 twice a week, so I don't know how often they do the E-6. The local shop I use for my 35mm c-41 sends to Dorian for their E-6.

My Quickloads came back with streaks from the little hole in the corner of the film. Which is better than ColorTek did--the film came back covered in little bubbles.
