Locally I buy it at a couple different places (most commonly from Calumet, but also EP Levine's, Hunts Photo, and Zeff Photo).

Online I've bought it from B&H, Adorama, Freestyle, Megaperls, and E-bay. J&C is gone now, but that was a great place to do business. Of the ones still around, E-bay is a great place to look for recently expired film and rare film, but you'll generally get no special deals for new film. Freestyle is just all around wonderful -- and you'll find some unusual films there like the whole Efke line, Arista films, orthochromatic films, etc that you can't get elsewhere. From B&H and Adorama the prices are basically standard, and you have to weigh the cost of shipping against the cost of sales tax if you buy it locally. But they have basically every standard film and more, esp at B&H.

I have bought stuff from both, but I think Freestyle is a little bit cheaper. They also have some good film deals. I think it's like 1 roll 24 exposure (B&W) for around 1.50 USD. (For their brand of course)

I have bought a lot of film from eBay in the past, and still have a sizable stash from those endeavors. But I've come to the point where I want a more stable supply of my favorites Tri-X and FP4+, so I've started purchasing it either locally (to support availability locally) and larger orders from Freestyle. Same with paper. Chemistry I have almost exclusively bought from Photographer's Formulary, Fine Art Photo Supply, and locally (National Camera).
Use what suits your purposes.

The least expensive photo store for film in the Los Angeles area is Samy's. Calumet and Bel Air are higher. Freestyle specialized in Black and White - go on line and order their free catalog.

From whoever has what I want . Usually a mix of Photographic Wholesalers (a local store), Vanbar in Melbourne, eBay, and Freestyle Photo in America.
eBay is a pretty good place to get film if you search around.

Stever, I will have to check out Samy's. The times that I went, I went directly to their digital floor, but will check out their film selection next time! I wonder if their Father's Day sale discount will be applicable to film... I hope so!

I just go down the street to the local camera store, oh sorry, that was the way it used to be. I miss that time; actually I get mine from Freestyle, but there is B&H.

I try my very best to support the local photo stores by buying film from them, and if I know I need a certain film for a large project I normally buy from online stores. Nothing from evil-bay though because after shipping and insurance costs the item almost always cost higher if it's something new and not used.

Film guy, I haven't looked for a mom and pops photo shop, but I'm sure they are hard to find these days. If I can find one that is close enough and offers films and other items at reasonable prices, I would not mind supporting them!

Does your city have a pro lab? I know some pro labs in bigger cities sell film at a pretty reasonable cost, sometimes even lower than a large photo store.

I'm in Germany, in the last year I made shopping on Internet at Fotoimpex (Adox films and TriX) and at Maco (some R3 and Agfa paper from the Black List). I go to a normal shop only if I need a single special film, otherwise the cost of shipment makes it unworth.
About chemicals I need only the fixer with a certain frequency - I find it in a local shop.

Well, a lot of links. I've heard of most of them, but it got me thinking...

I'm pretty sure it has been suggested before...

What we could use on APUG is a Big List Of Shops that sell analogue materials (maybe with some sub-categories: only film, darkroom consumeables, darkroom others, cameras), both on-line and real-life shops around the globe.

(Sorry if it has been said before...)

More on-topic: I usually place my bigger orders at foto Mayr; other resources include Fotohuis Rovo and "the local shop" (they are usually a bit more expensive, but I'm happy they still have *some* analogue stuff, so every now and then I show them my appreciation ).
