whats your backlog for processing ?

Wow, I need to take more pictures. Had a camera for 3 weeks and only shot 2 rolls of 35mm awaiting processing.

Now I have bought a house I just need my 2 containers of household goods to arrive from Oz and be unloaded. Then I'll have all my cameras, and all my film, and no good reason not to build a darkroom in the basement.

Glad this thread was started as now I don't feel so bad...lol Down to about 20 - 25 rolls to develop.

Your nick sounds like class is dismissed. Anyway, enjoy the the darkroom days.

I'm afraid I don't follow your meaning?

Your user name is pinyin in Mandarin for "class dismissed" or "class over" like at university or high school. The bell rings, a student will say, "Xia ke!"

Interesting!...LOL Funny thing is I got that handle years ago after reading a book and in one Chinese dialect it translated to chivalrous swordsman. Thought it was different so went with it. Someone else mentioned a third meaning to it a couple years ago, but can't remember what they had said.

Well it's hard to translate directly from the pinyin ("englishization" of the sounds in a written form) because the tonality is not represented here, and tones are important in Chinese for meaning. Mandarin has four tones: up, down, even, and down-up, which can change the meaning. The word "ma" for example is often used to show such as it can mean mother, horse, or a few other meanings depending on the tone used. Xia Ke most commonly heard as a phrase usually means "class dismissed" as mentioned both with a down tone. Xià Kè. 侠 客

I think your meaning of chivalrous swordsman is more accurately "Jian Ke" both with downward tones. 剑 客

Ok sorry for OT....

I always keep up. My backlog is in my mind. I want to work on this project or that and thinking already how to process it. When shooting 8x10 still life I process after every exposure. Make any adjustments and re shoot and process again. Partly due to the cost of film I guess.

I do exactly the same as you when working in LF. My backlog is always 135 and 120. 4x5 and 8x10 are developed within a day or two of exposure unless I'm on the road. I am even working at some modifications in my camper to allow me to develop and contact print on the road.

It's now three films less than it was before the holiday weekend. I'm struggling to get it under a year -- apparently I was busy shooting a lot of film last May!
