Lomo Smena Symbol. The shutter was stuck.

Had bought it off of eBay for pretty much nothing so thought what the heck, i'll give it a shot and if I fail, I can always buy a new one.

Got some important looking parts (a spring and a metal thingy) left over after taking it apart and putting it back together, but somehow it worked and still works to this day...

I took apart a point and shoot camera (probably an Olympus or a Nikon) and managwd to take the lens assembly unit (including the aperture) and the viewfinder without ruining them. They might become handy in future DIY projects. Does this count?

Absolutely it counts. I've got a drawer full of future projects like that:whistling:

As a teenager I fixed a Yashica TLR where the mirror had slipped, giving a false focus reading. Worked fine after that.

I think that was the high point of my camera repair career. Since then all my success has been on the "take apart" phase of repair.

Kitchen table home camera repairers are like surgeons you only hear about their successes, they bury their mistakes

I'm offended. They're not buried!

They are right out in full view in that big cardboard box out in the shed. :whistling:
