Thought id chip the ice from the past few days with something lite.

What do you have hanging over your head when you are sitting at your desk?

This is only 1/2 the of my top desk. It is about 1/2 of my old school chem books and some of my self-chem-photo-read collection.

The prize of this set for me is the army-green book to the right, The Barret Book of Photography. It is a photographic 1st print school book from 1898.

I have a bunch of small prints with magnet backs stuck to my overhead locker at my desk (it's a big industrial metal kind of thing).

This is my favorite print that is stuck up there.

Over the desk is an over-loaded set of shelves of mostly photo books (this is at work -- I don't have a desk at home). I'd take a photo of it, but I am afraid OSHA might see it and close down my office. (OSHA - Occupation Safety and Health Agency...or something like that). To my right is a bunch of photos...some postcards from a friend who travels a lot to photograph, photos of my triplets -- from the image of Calder at 5 days old (weighing in a 2.5 pounds) to about 4 yrs old or so (more recent ones are on my office door). Can't take a photo of that wall because I got a photo of my naked three 9 month olds laying on a Periodic Table (manipulated SX-70 titled "Critical Mass") and I might get busted for internet child pornography. And other misc. items.

I have a 30"x20" Canon poster framed in a Clipframe that commemorates sixty years of the company, and has pictures of all the cameras they made from 1930 to 1991.

The painting of a friend.
The one and only artwork I could afford to buy...

We have a 'clean desk' policy, stuff can be(and has been)removed and disposed. We don't have anything over our desks as we work in an 'open' office.

Leaning against the cube wall behind my computer is a 24x30" print of the John Hancock Building in Chicago. Oh, and an 8x10" print of the Copper Harbor Lighthouse. To my right is a climbing vine-type plant hanging from a "Danger - DO NOT CLIMB" warning placard I got from the outside-plant engineer.

The photos change, and I'm about to rehang a favorite pinhole print from a fellow photographer.

Over my desk is a shelf carrying small speakers, CD racks, dust and a wire rack of file folders filled with -- ahem -- "essential papers."

On the wall is a pen & ink drawing I did some years back. It's drawn from a photo I took of an old cemetery in Rockport Mass. -- originally called Solitude, I'm considering retitling it "Retirement Plan." :D

Over my desk at work? Well, we call them letter carrier cases at the Post Office as they aren't really desks, and we only slave behind them sorting mail for a couple hours a day before wandering around in the fresh air.

Mine has enough route information for a temp to come in and make a go of doing my job if I call in sick. Then there's the photographs of my wife and daughter. Then there's the list I started five years ago for the appearance dates in the spring for swallows, black flying ants, and bumble bees.

I'm looking forward to seeing how all these change over time until I retire

I almost forgot I have a desk it is so piled with books and mags and mail. Above it is a small antelope antler with a rollei strap and a stop watch hanging and a picture of Marilyn Monroe naked on a red cloth as well as a picture of Neil Young playing guitar. But the more important space is over my counters.

Over my desk I have four of my prints and one of Kerik's platinum prints I bought after taking one of his workshops.
