I just got an EOS 3 from keh so I could use the same lenses as my digital (40D). Unfortunately my two most useful lenses are crop lenses. Didn't think that through too well, lol. I eventualy want to get a really nice standard zoom like the 24-70 2.8L, but for now I need something cheap. The only EF lenses I have atm are 50mm 1.8, 100mm macro, and 70-300 IS. (crop lenses are 18-55 IS, and sigma 10-20) I'm really hurting for wide angle.

Whats a decent EF standard zoom thats around 200 bucks or less on keh? I wish there was an EF counterpart to the EF-S 18-55 IS, thats such an awesome lens for the price!

Thanks.

For many years, the only lens I had on my EOS 3 was a 28-135 IS. I found it to be a great all around lens, and in spite of now having a nice assortment of L zooms and primes, I have still kept it. KEH has them in EX condition for $286 -- if price is the main consideration and you're quite careful you may do better on ebay or craigslist.

Regards,

Dave

I've had good luck with the EF 24-85 f/3.5-4.5. It doesn't have IS though. I use mine rather frequently considering I have an EF 24-70L, great walking around lens.

I'm not writing from experience here, but I've heard good things about Canon's EF 28-105, which can be bought new at B&H in your price range. You might want to read through the reviews there. There's also the EF 24-85, which has been discontinued, but which I personally find to be much more interesting, and which also can be had at KEH for about the same price. I really like that extra 4mm of focal length on a full-frame 35. Out of curiosity, I read through the reviews at B&H on this lens, and its overall rating among reviewers was 4.5 out of 5 stars. Neither of these zooms are IS though.

Thanks for the info guys. If anyone else wants to add anything feel free! I've got a while to think about it, blew a little too much on photography stuff this month, haha.
