For Sale What would you expect to pay for a 150mm Gold Dot Dagor in Copal?

Ahhh, the old bait and switch! But think about this.........

This 150mm G-Claron is the ultra scarce early Dagor type. The contrast on these coated Dagor's is just beyond superb!

Which is why we might consider paying $1300 for a Gold Dot Schneider Dagor in Copal from 1969 or so.

Here it is! It just says G-Claron on it though, and it's a full stop slower. That'll save you $1000 bucks and (Jim speak truth here) the performance is the same. Maybe better. $285 + shipping

Hi Peter. It won't cover 8X10, but in a pinch it would cover the full plate with no movements stopped down. It'll cover 4X5 with nice movements. It's a true wide field lens at 82 degrees.

They weren't Schneider Dagors yet in 1969. Goerz Optical Company wasn't acquired by Schneider Corporation of America for another four years, in 1973. I bought a new 6 inch Gold Dot Dagor in 1969, new for $252.00. Running this through an on line inflation calculator gives a price of $1512.00.

Neat info. I checked the Schneider age chart and my 1969 guess was spot on for this lens. I wonder who did these for Schneider. Maybe they did them themselves and later bought the Dagor name and rights to solve licensing issues? What we do know is that time frame is right when the graphic arts industry was in the change-over to cameras. Small shops needed wide lenses and most of the big makers came up with solutions. Lucky for us the cross-over into our world works beautifully.

Interesting. I was under impression that the Dagor type G-Claron has lettering on the inside of the barrel. The coating is bluish on the Dagor and pinkish on the plasmat type. I can't tell the color of the coating for this one though Jim, what is the filter size on this one (I think it's 35.5mm for plasmat version)? Also, my older signle-coated 150mm Linhof Symmar-S flares sometimes, would the Dagor type G-Claron flare less and deliver better contrast? Just thinking.

30.5mm. Really small. BackPackers!!? I'll bet it would be better with 4 air - glass than the Symmar with 8. Pure speculation of course.
