What would be the best current paper for Portraits?

Hi,

I would like to know your opinion on what would be the best current paperr for portraits? Could you attach some pictures? Whats equivalent for Agfa Portriga? Foma 123 is good for portraits?

This is a fairly opinionated field. If you like the agfa look, consider ilford warmtone and the adox papers, which use the same emulsion recipe as agfa did. I also like using ilford cooltone and developing it in a warmer tone developer (in particular, 130 formula) this is a very nice look, but it usually yields itself best to landscapes. Give adox a try, it will look almost the same as agfa did!

MCC 110 in a warm-tone developer is very nice. Ilford MGFB Warmtone is great, but horribly expensive. Oriental makes a decent warm-toned paper as well.

But just because they are portraits doesn't mean they have to be warm. You can make various hues work well, using each depending on what you want to do with the picture.

What sort of portrait - formal, informal, environmental, sentimental, reverential ...? Who is being photographed - kids in department store studio, company pres., bored housewife, SO, wanna-be starlet, family Christmas card?

Ilford MultiGrade WarmTone is my favorite paper overall but MGIV works well too.
