Thanks. Yeah, I'm not expecting 50/2 Nikkor-H sharpness. It'll still probably be shot in the f/5.6-f/11 range, like most of my glass. Just nice having a *really* bright viewfinder. This one is actually my second. First one was one that I picked up in a box of camera parts from the Brian Williams (microbee on eBay) estate at the end of last year. Elements were very hazy and the diaphragm blades were inside a clear Kodak film canister. Donated it, along with most of the other lenses and parts to Doug at the Camera Clinic.

Ken, it might be worth sending that F2 to the UK... Scott is a good guy, but, it's amazing what Mr. Wong was able to do with my F2AS.

Replacement Zone VI 4x5 white camera bag. From a fellow APUG member. It replaces my original from the early 80s, in which the interior foam padding had begun to outgas as it deteriorated. This gassing had started leaving a thin oily film on the bag contents, so the bag had to go.

The new white bag is a later model Zone VI with a different foam type. Slightly larger, it's in almost-like-new condition. I caught the original Zone VI Wista DX-II camera grinning from ear-to-ear after first seeing it.

I also have the 210mm f/9 G-Claron in a Copal shutter. Really nice lens. Very sharp, when stopped down to at least f/22. It will cover 8x10, but with room for only limited movement. Roughly equivalent to about a 28mm in 135 format at that size.

Here's an example photo made with that lens using an 8x10 camera. Note there was still sufficient movement available to correct the verticals:

Just for grins...

A 38mm lens from a half-frame Olympus Pen F would be roughly equivalent (on the diagonal) to a 54.8mm in 135 format and, if it could cover an 8x10, would theoretically be equivalent to a 412.0mm lens in that format.

I just ordered the darkroom automation enlarging meter. I make prints in the closet and cannot get exposures, contrast or much of anything right. Hoping to troubleshoot my problems with this meter and all the great tech information on their site. My next purchase will be to mate the print tech data with the film/exposure tech data by having BTZS test done by Fred Newman. I shoot HP5 in 8x10, and develop in Perceptol 1+2 to get the best edge integration and grain tradeoff. I think part of my printing problem is the negatives I am making.

I have some Ilford Multigrade IV RC glossy paper in 8x10 that should be arriving tomorrow, the value pack with 25 sheets and 2 rolls of HP5+. The local darkroom (Minneapolis Photo Center) has a community night, and I'm really looking forward to making my first prints.

Something tells me the 38mm won't cover 325mm, hah. It's going to be fun to see how prints between the two compare. It will be a nice complement to the 240 I have now.

200/4 K-type Nikkor with AI ring for $50+tax. Much nicer than the AIS lens I had a few weeks ago. Also picked up an HS-7 lens hood for my 55/1.2 locally and a MK-1 firing rate converter from another APUG member.

A couple of books by the late Saul Leiter: Saul Leiter and Early Color. As well, I finally found the "proper" lens hood - Nikon's HB-7 - for my 80-200 F2.8 AF-D lens. For reasons unknown, an HB-17 came with the lens (and I wondered why the d**n thing would never stay attached); odd that for a lens still in production (?) this hood took so long to find...
