What to do with slightly outdated paper

I have 3 25-sheet unopened packs of Efke EMAKS 888 grade 3 paper which are just less than 2 years old. I also have an unopened 25-sheet box of what I believe to be the last batch of J&C Nuance. I think they are the same paper. All 11x14. 100 sheets in total. I don't use them any more. Is there a better way than trashing them?

Slightly outdated paper usually works just fine, as long as it hasn't been stored poorly. As the paper gets even older, a bit of benzotriazole in the developer may save things. It will restrain the slight fog that develops as the paper ages. Paper also loses speed with age, and you may have to correct for that. Eventually, age will catch up with you, however, and you will be unable to make a good print on the old paper.

You can test it by taking two pieces, develop and fix one, just fix the other. If they match after drying, the paper is fine. If the developed one shows some level of fog, then you may want to consider the benzotriazole, depending on how valuable the paper is to you.

I regularly use outdated papers. Some are just fine. Others have lost contrast; what was once a MG from 5-00 is now 3.5-00 etc.

Some have developer incorporated and they tend to evenly fog. They are then just fine for lith printing, and in camera paper negatives if you like to play that way.

I have some 30 year old paper that works surprisingly well.....Use it until you don't like the results anymore.

I'm currently working through a stock of August 2004 manufactured ILFORD MG Warm tone Gloss RC without apparent issue.
