I don't know the answer to your question, but I suspect you won't be able to find it by posting on internet forums. This one is primarily people who don't use digital, many others are primarily people who do, and regardless they will only be able to tell you their impressions. In order to have any real answer, you would need some sort of a survey that was designed carefully, and I doubt any is out there... That would provide the statistics you refer to. In the absence of such a survey, you're probably pretty much limited to whatever the sales of film, film cameras, digital cameras, and digital media are. But I'm not sure those statistics will be useful since they don't separate out consumer versus pro use.
For a sample size of one, I thought about going digital a few years back but re-evaluated my work, looked at digital images I had made, and decided that it was just a dumb, advertising-driven idea in my head, as all my really good work was done on film...and I haven't thought twice about digital since. Except, ironically enough, when I read all the moaning and hand-wringing about it here...
