In 1994, right before going digital, my paper used Fuji Super-G 100, 400 and 800 color neg. films. They scanned great at the time, 800 pushed exceptionally well. From 1950 to 2000, most magazines preferred good slide film stock from all formats for the most part if in color.
Of course, Kodachrome was king right up until the introduction of Fuji 50 and then Velvia 50 E-6 films. The very first color magazine cover ever published was in the July 7th of 1941 issue of Life magazine, on Kodachrome.
As a photojournalist, I am using Kodachrome for all my personal work associated with the "Project" as I just love what the limits of the film do when pushed. Some PJ's still love film and if they can shoot it, well it is either good E-6 stock, C-41 but more often than not, black and white.
