I've got another "Whatzit" for you:

I've been sorting through a whole bunch of photo equipment that I just inherrited. I found this item inside an ammo box with a whole bunch of other stuff. I THINK I know what it is but I'd like to know what you think.

I found it in the same box with a whole bunch of flash accessories like flash holders, reflectors and cables. At first, I thought it could be a flash reflector but, as I dug deeper into the box I found this neat little swivel ball head.

So, I am guessing that the two items go together like so:

It would make a cute little tabletop stand.

What's the whatzit?

Thanks!

I think it's a floor stand for a camera or a light. I've seen similar sorts of stands used for either one.

On looking at the first photo I thought of foot, out of four, for some machinery.

Maybe that one has been re-used as a foot of a stand. However the small diameter would have limited its uses.
