I have this light-tight black metal box, which a 100' roll of 35mm would seem to fit perfectly in, and I have no idea what it's purpose is. There are two slits, it looks like for film to go in or out of. I think it might be more movie film related, but really have no idea. Any thoughts? Follow the link below for more photos of it.

film canister for early movie camera? Out of this one, through the camera and into a second?
 
This one got got 2 slits and rollers.
As indicated in the Pathe photo, by this the same cassette can be used either for feed or take-up.

But then strange enough it is missing that drive-wheel...
