Has anyone been to any of the workshops by those in Magnum? There's one happening here this year (quite expensive) - I'm wondering if it works from a networking perspective.
The lady handling the communications for it went "it's not a beginners workshop where you learn how to use a Dslr, but one where you'll get to learn to look at photography in a new way and discover your shortcomings" !!(on being asked about what contents would be)
From a purely networking or getting the connect to an agency like that - would that work well? (assuming body of work impresses the photographer)

/Hope the op doesn't mind me piggybacking on this thread

I've attended dozens of workshops and they are all over the map in respect to price.

The criteria for me, is not what it costs but what will I get out of it. Some are actually life changing, and others are an insight into another photographers methods.

Some are hands on, and others are more instructional.

I will say that today with the internet and the availability of buying DVDs there are cheaper ways of learning than workshops, but with a workshop you can often learn a great deal from being totally immersed and you can learn from the other participants.
