What is a "normal" focal length for a 4x5 view camera?

My first lens was/is a 180mm f/5.6 Scheider-Kreuznach Symmar and I absolutely love it. Lots of movement and coming from 50mm as my go-to-35mm lens, 180 is perfect.

Oooohh, actually mine is not a Symmar-S, but the older convertible style. I think you will be very pleased though with the "S".

I really dig the convertible aspect; two for the price of one!

nice lens barry !

its a convertible i think, so you have 2 lenses in one
it probably converts to a 315mm f12 when converted
( remove the front lens from the shutter )
i have a old 210 / 370 and it is nice when converted
nice wide open for portraits.

I thought that the Symmar-S series are not convertibles actually.

However, this would suggest otherwise....(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

The Symmar's were sold as Convertibles but were never used as such by the professionals I knew using them who all said they were very poor split which matched my own experiences.l

The early Angulons were Convertible as well

Will my lightbox loupe work?

One other thought is to have a cable release or two (in my case I have several as I go thru them at a ridiculous rate) and a reliable spot meter.
