Couple weeks ago I took this Hawkeye apart, cleaned it up, and repainted it to resemble a 1955 Chevy Bel-Air. The “fins” are white and trimmed with chrome pinstripes.

I picked up another one this past weekend and I want to do something really different with this one. Just not feeling too inspired yet.

Any suggestions?

How about a Thunderbird? The ones from that era had (IIRC) distinctively Ford colors. A Plymouth Belvedere would be a more similar car, though -- sedan with a large 6 or V-8. Or you could go with a wood scheme, like a Ford "Woody" Panel Delivery.

Yeah- it would be easy to get some thin wood veneer and turn it into a woody- veneer the lower half, and paint the top half cherry red.

Oh- you should totally do one in faux animal fur - a fuzzy Brownie would be a hoot!

crap. Now I have to buy another one. There’s an innuendo somewhere in there but I’ll spare y’all.

How do you paint on Bakelite?

Woody-style would look good on a Tesla... or a Rolls Royce!

You have a Chevy, now you need a Ford. Maybe paint it deep Ford blue and put a couple of white racing stripes on it like the GT40 and Cobras.

After that, it might be time for a deep red Ferrari camera.

Yes, do the famous Le Mans orange-and-blue Gulf livery!
Or the Audi Quattro rallye Martini one.
The 1980's Renault F1 yellow? Wait... what about Lotus?

Well, you have cyan (sort of).
How about magenta, followed by yellow?
And if you prefer, magenta could be styled after, well, Magenta.

I have a Brownie with French markings; made in France.

Make it the color of a baguette? Tri-color?

If it is a Canadian made Brownie Hawkeye, perhaps a red and white maple leaf?

Spray paint. Specifically Krylon Maxx or something like that, it’s for plastic. Three coats of white primer, three or four coats of color, and at least six coats of clear high gloss finish.

The first coat of primer for the Woody is on. Now to start looking for color options and veneers.

With it's dual "headlights" and ribbed sides, the camera makes me think of this:
SCSanFranChiefStockton.jpg

The locomotives didn't have ribbed sides, but the stainless steel Pullman passenger cars did.

The Santa Fe above is awesome!

Other: with the base black, one could turn the camera into ornate Chinese lacquer look with red and gold inlays?
