Try to find a chart that describes all the available focus screens and try to base your decision on that.Most of the all-matte screens are for tele lenses, there are a couple of clear screens, but they will give false meter reading(except on auto mode). I have a 1-10 all matte wgrid for the shift lens, works well for macro,a tad hard to focus with my old eyes. The 1-1 is supposedly the fastest focus screen,I have never tried one to know.As far as focusing in low light, only look at the micro-prism area not the split image. Whenever possible, use the split image on an edge of something or someone's face to focus. Years ago I learned to judge distance and preset the focus and use DOF to my advantage.
