A roll of Kodak film. I have no idea whether it's pan or ortho or what it should be rated at. It fits perfectly in a 120 camera although it is marked 620 - but it won't fit a 620 Brownie. It might be 60 or 70 years old.
I've metered for 40 and took some pictures of rocks with it in a Bessa 6x9.
Tell you next week if anything comes out ...

Three of my diminishing stock of Fuji Astia 35mm, and some Konica Professional 160 colour neg. All from the freezer, so hopefully should be OK !

Some Ilford FP4+ 120 in my GF670 folder. No Pulitzer Prizes. Just photo-walk stuff for relaxation.

I have a mounting backlog of b&w film in several formats ready for processing, which I usually delay until the weather turns and we're all back in the tunnel for another ten months. No use wasting those fleeting summer days doing developing.

And this upcoming weekend, Ilford HP5+ 4x5 in my Crown Graphic at my niece's wedding, if the weather holds. I figure I'll scare all of the 20-somethings half-to-death with those Press 25 flashbulbs.

Today, developed a roll of FP4+, I'm excited about printing this one. The last few frames were for MSA. I've been steadily reducing my development times lately with FP4+, still plenty of contrast. There are only 4 frames on this roll that look thin ( of 39! I had to cut off the last frame in my changing bag because it wouldn't fit on my spool! ) The rest look great. Maybe I'll find out different when I start printing, but this might be the best I've ever done with this film. Wish I didn't have to work tomorrow-- I'll probably find time to at least make a contact sheet.

At last count somewhere around 1,500 or so. I pick up the odd case here and there whenever they pop up. Someday I'll be on fixed income, so best to do it now while I can.

Flashbulbs are from the days of near full-sensory photography, I think. You see the light, of course. But you can also feel the heat and hear that metallic tinkling sound as the molten metal drips onto the inside of the bulb and cracks the glass. I love that. Then the pungent aroma of burned caramel corn from the melted safety coating lingers luxuriously in the air for a few moments. And since taste is so closely related to smell, there you have it. Four-and-a-half out of five.

Sometimes after releasing the shutter I've quickly stepped up to the subject, held out the camera, and excitedly exclaimed "Come smell this! It's the smell of old-fashioned photography. You'll never have this experience with a smart phone." They breathe deep, then I caution them it might still be hot and pop the still-warm bulb into their hands for a thank you souvenir. People love it. It's a revelation. They've never before in their life had their picture made quite like this.

(Can't wait to see if Bob Crowley and the New55 guys can really make it to market so I can also hand subjects a totally non-digital 4x5 instant print to go with their burned flashbulb. Go Bob!)

Yes I did. Quite a lot actually (all in black and white since I do that at home). However, it will be some time before I can ever see those images as I send my film out to a scanning service. I won't send such politically sensitive negatives out to a lab here in China so am going to have to figure out another way to get this done.

Yeah, Reala is great. Those were my last 3 rolls of Reala that I took to Hong Kong. Damn beautiful film. I need to buy more as Reala is still available here in China, for a price. Around $10 a roll last time I checked.

I thought Reala was basically Provia100f resold as cheaper film?

Also, I didn't realize China was still so bad you couldn't even photograph protests. So how come you can get away with being seen taking the photos? You're using a 120 camera of some kinds, so it must be noticeable?
