Yes. Stupid me. This film is not old (just one or two years), but for the hell of it I don't remember what it was.

It could be Rollei or Adox.

Can anybody id this film?

They should write on the backing paper what is is. I won't buy this film anymore!

regards,
chris

You have here ARISTA EDU aka Foma. I have identical backing paper from "newer" ORWO 120, but with different adhesive sticker.

Hmm. Foma could be it. Maybe I develop it like a Foma 100 film. I anyway don't remember what's on it...

Look at the pics. There is written "100 ASA".

But nevermind, I've developed it in the meanwhile (like 100 ASA), and it appears to be good.

Interesting. I’ve never seen the black paper on over 100 rolls of Foma 100 I’ve shot. I’ve only seen it on the 400.

So it's Foma rebranded as Arista EDU Ultra and sold by Freestyle in LA. I've shot some of this in the past--only 100 ISO, never 400--and if I recall correctly its wrapper was black.

Perhaps an interesting story there. But I believe Arista is Freestyle's proprietary brand. I can buy Adox here so why not Arista in Bavaria?

Edit: I don't see it on the Fotoimpex site, though B&H and Adorama do sell it in New York, even though they compete with Freestyle. Maybe the OP got it on a trip to the US?

From what I see on the paper, I would surmise that it is exposed film.

How did Freestyle film get to Bavaria?
I have no idea. I don't remember ordering something from Freestyle.
I have in the back of my brain the idea that it was bought as Fomapan 100.
That's what I get collecting exposed films over a year and don't process more often.

If you don't know what the film is, how are you going to know what not to buy again?

Yeah, of course I meant after I find out what kind of film this is.

That's why they don't write on it what it is , so you end up buying it again !
35mm and 120 B&W I tend to use Ilford , sheet film I use Foma . I'm happy that way around .
I went so struck on Foma in the smaller formats .
Rollei IR I like in any format .

It pretty much has to be Arista. The use of the word "ultra" is, I believe. exclusive to Arista/Freestyle in their rebranded Foma films. It may be possible that an over-run was made at Foma of film destined for Freestyle and sold under the Foma brand in Europe. Are you sure you never ordered films from Freestyle or B&H?
Edit: I found some 120 negatives that I shot in 2013 on Arista EDU 100. The margins have the single word "ultra" and no other identifying marking.

Quite sure. Let's say 99%. (My memory is aging.. :-( )

Maybe I bought something from the US or Japan, and this film was an included bonus. That could be, but I don't remember.

Btw., somebody changed the thread title...

If you look at the datasheets for Foma, you'll see that they list "ultra" as possible edge markings for Fomapan film. It's probably done to excess films for Arista orders, which are then packaged as Fomapan.

Foma products are sold under a number of names. Foma generally doesn't permanently mark many of their films. Most 35mm films come in generic cartridges with paper labels attached. 120 film is generally just labelled B&W 100, B&W 200, and B&W 400 on the rolls.
