Hi there!
I have this roll of t-max 100 that i shot a couple of years ago. I was in granada and i wanted to get some pictures of the very dim inside of the mosque, so being stuck with t-max 100 i decided to take the chance and i exposed it at ISO800.
Now i'm just getting back into B&W and i've come across this roll and i really want to develop it, but i have no idea what developer i should use.
I have HC-110, Tetenal Ultrafin, Ilfosol 3 and D76 on hand, but i could try and find something else if none of these would be adequate. None of the developers i have have times posted for a three stop push, so i've no idea on how to proceed.

any help is welcome!
cheers!

Looking at the data sheet for Ilfosol 3 (which I just picked up today!) it seems that pushing a film to 800 would result in about 28minutes of development? That's a guess, as I haven't tested it yet. I don't know if a 28 minute develop time would harm the film or not. That's a long time in the liquid I think. Perhaps you can't push it that far... I would guess it would come out with some kind of contrast problem... maybe WAY to contrasty. I personally like a lot of contrast, but you may not.

If you didn't want to wait around 28 minutes you could do it at a higher temp, but then your still waiting around about 20 minutes, even at 28c.
Now as for which developer I would pick. If I wanted to push 3 stops, I would try Microphen for maybe 16 or 17 minutes, as is.

HC-110 Dilution B at 11 or 12 minutes may work according to some research, as well as dilution A for 10minutes.

Hope that helps.

Bill Pierce did film pushing by substituting HC110 Replenisher for the HC110.
I did it once; not as a push; but because I wanted tonal separation on some Orwo roll film. It worked.

I seem to remember hearing that Kodak recommends using the TMAX OR TMAX RS developers for push processing to 800.

from the t-max 100 pdf

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/f4016/f4016.pdf

kodak has a time listed of 11 3/4 mins at 75 deg F (24 deg C).

best of luck though, there are lots of combos that you can use.

I don't think that D76 straight or 1:1 would give you nice results, but IDK, i don't usually push that much (usually +1 max for me )

best of luck!

Xtol 1+3 with agitation every two minutes. I would use holy water to make it up because Tmax 100 at 800 is going to be seriously tough unless the brightness range is exceedingly low. If you have sunny windows i the shots you will have the most bulletproof highlights imaginable on a 3 stop push.

Dat's just what I was gonna say!

Dil B for 11 and a half minutes at 20ºC is what the t-max technical sheets recommends for EI400. i might try with dil A.

welcome to apug.

where are you located?

try xtol 1+1

Thanx!

I'm located in Madrid, Spain.

I might just buy a bottle of Xtol and try it out. what's it like¿?

if you want to try something different since
the film is oldish and you are kind of experimenting with it ...
get some instant coffee, vitamin C and washing soda ...
you might have trouble finding the vit c and washing soda
when in france i had to go to a pharmacy and it was kind of expensive,
but who knows in spain it might be different ...

coffee ( 4teaspoons )
washing soda ( 2 teaspoons )
powdered vitamin c ( 2 teaspoons )
add water to bring total volume to 400ml

(it may foam and bubble, that is good )

mix with 400ml d76 straight
put your film in there and let it sit, do not agitate .. for 22 mins ...
it is going to smell kind of bad,

fix &C as usual.

have fun!
( and welcome ! )
