I thought it would be fun to show your Go-to cameras that you use regularly, your "shelf queen" cameras that you have on display for Show, and your cameras, that you wouldn't literally Throw away, but they're probably in a drawer or a box and you never use them, and really if you sold or otherwise disposed of them it wouldn't really matter.

PS I got lazy actual photographing these so I apologize for the poor quality.

Here's mine:

GO

Yashica LM TLR, my 120 choice.

Nikon F100 (with Pentax PZ-1 as a backup), my 35mm choice. The Pentax was my first SLR

Polaroid 250 Automatic Land (with Polaroid Impulse AF as backup). Love the look of packfilm from these cameras. Once I bought this I scoured the world for expensive, but not outrageously priced FP-3000b film, and ended up with 70 packs. Just 2 months later FP-100c was discontinued, so I bought 100 packs 3 hours after the announcement, beating the 200% price increase by a few days.

Not pictured are my digicams:

Nikon D300 (backup, Nikon D80)
Canon S90 (backup, Samsung Galaxy S4)

SHOW

Kodak Type III Vest Pocket**, strangely has the lens/shutter usually associated with the Special rather than Type III.

Bilora Bella 44, came with a malfunctioning shutter, was able to fix it enough to put a roll through. I honestly just bought this because I liked how it looked.

Minolta Hi-matic 9, great images, but I find using it to be annoying to be honest.

Kodak Instamatic 304, my grandfather's

---

Kodak Hawkeye Brownie Flash outfit**

Kodak No 2 Cartridge Hawk-Eye

Cine-Kodak Model K, I hope to try this out and make a short film

Ansco Cadet II, also my grandfathers. Full of light leaks that even tape all around didn't eliminate.

Polaroid Land 160

THROW

"toy" panorama camera
Instamatic 124
Praktica LTR
, I find the viewfinder to be horrific (might be in need of repair)
Black Rolleiflex SL35, broken, but came with some apparently valuable lenses so I purchased a silver SL35 to test them with.
Two Hawkeye Brownies
Konica Autoreflex TC
, belonged to the uncle of an ex-girlfriend.

Not shown: Canon G3, my first digicam from 2002

**these occasionally come out to play

I love the Konica line.

GO - F3, A2, ME Super,

SHOW - Bronica S2, Mamiya M645 (Both loaded though)

THROW - Olympus OM-G, I give it to kids to try film out. It's on loan to someone now, I'll maybe get it back some day. Don't really care.

Maybe I should try it out again, I can't actually remember why I stopped. Perhaps because my first SLR was the Pz-1 so dual control wheels and automation is sort of in my dna, with SLRs anyway.

All of my cameras, about 83 now, get used. I've used about 16 different ones this year - a few weeks at a time for each.

These are:

Nikon S2, F, and all the others through F4 and FM3a.

Canon, from Canonets and FTb and other SLR's through Elan 7NE.

Leica, from the III, M3, M6, SL, R8

Minolta from SRT-101 through Maxxum 7.

Exaktas

Zeiss Ikon

Hasselblads

Mamiya RB67's

Rolleiflexes

Large format

other 35mm. I actually have a list, but it's probably too obscene to post.

I have none purely for show and absolutely none for "throw".

Go:
  • Chinon CE II Memotron w/Zeiss Pancolar
  • Franken-camera made from a plastic point-and-shoot with a knock-off Diana shutter and pieces of a Sigma wide angle lens.
  • Zeiss Super Ikonta III (currently being serviced)
Show:
  • Kodak Retina II (though I do also use this. But when not in use, it's on the bookshelf looking gorgeous)
Throw:
  • A big ol' box full of cameras waiting to be fixed or mashed together into franken-cams.

The lenses are second to none. Really stellar.

GO: Graflex Anniversary 4x5. Sometimes the lack of movements bother me, but so does hauling around my Sinar F1. Plus the rangefinder and focal plane shutter mean I can use it handheld and with just about any lens out there, which are nice additions.

SHOW: Minolta 110 Zoom SLR, Ansco Panda TLR, Arrow (Hit) micro, and Apple Quicktake cameras. The small formats of the Minolta 110 Zoom SLR, Arrow micro and Apple (digital resolution of 640x480) cameras make them pretty useless if I want to take a printable photo, but they both look cool on display. The Ansco Panda can take 120 film... but you can't focus the cheap lens, or adjust the shutter speed or aperture (just like the Arrow camera). I don't typically like to own cameras I don't shoot, but these were all really cheap and they look pretty cool on display.

THROW: Pentax ZX-50. The only camera I couldn't repair after it broke. Well, not that I couldn't repair it, but it certainly wasn't worth repairing. I love me some Pentax, but this camera was junk through and through (came with two terrible zoom lenses too). So I salvaged the screws and a few other bits, sold the lenses for pennies, and trashed the rest.
