Nothing frightens me about photography, but I am disappointed in an increasing and unquestioning attitude that newer is always better. Along with this belief is the assumption that anyone who isn't using recent technology is either a luddite or too old and stubborn to learn new things.

And then there's the unquestioned assumption that nothing new can be good and that anyone who adopts new technology is a fool, a dupe and a wannabee.

Yes, that's true as well. In general, then, I suppose it's lack of tolerance or maybe just pig-headedness to one's own views.

Fortunately, as regards my own photography, I use both film and digital and see the advantages of each.

not too weird
some things i have done with a camera have put me into frightening / scared the $!te outta me - situations ..
but i managed, and survived ... just wondered if others were adrenaline junkies as well ...

Selfie sticks. Fungus. Dropping a small screw or ball bearing that bounces onto carpet. The amount of time and money I've thrown at it.

Always work half way across a king sized bed sheet, vacuum clean floor and drop in magnet to dust works for ball bearings and cams with steel screws.

So this is the best argument yet for online galleries, photo-sharing, cloud storage, etc. As much as I like to celebrate that I have family photos in an album/shoebox that are over 100 years old, and all you have to do is open the box to view them, the fact is that one day that box or album might get tossed - at which point it's gone forever. If it's online, there's a chance it could last much longer.

Even though 99% of my photos may be considered worthless by others, those photos will exist in the same online sea as everyone else's.

Wasting 35mm film. It has made a 36 frame roll of film last a month or more.
Dont have this fear with rolls of 120 film somehow. Must be that they come in packs of 5 for the most part.
