Betterscanning has ideas for generic products that work. The brand names might be different, but I expect you can find the fluid (it's just mineral spirits).
Wow I didn't know that the mounting fluid is odorless mineral spirits. I am no longer interested in fluid mounting now that I know that. Very nasty stuff.
Kami will kill you...use Gamsol low odor mineral spirits. Available at most art supply stores. Takes longer to dry after a scan but just wipe, and leave for about 15 minutes in a ventilated area
We tried a number of them but not this one you mention. From what we tried, they all worked about the same but the Gamsol is truly virtually odorless whereas the others still had a decent amount of smell.
Yes, it is all toxic. I work in full face mask with carbon filter. As i know lightweight fractions (formally odors) in spirits are dangerous only for some very old b/w film emulsions. For most films it makes no any harm in long term perspective.
I don't do real wet mount scans. I just wipe film before scan in my camera scan system.
Gamsol and other odorless mineral spirits are far less volatile than Kami and also somewhat safer to breath as a lot of the volatile organic compounds have been removed.
