Western Processing Drum Question

I have just gotten an 8x10 Western Drum from Ebay. It looks in pretty good shape and I like that it has the ribs so that the film shouldn't stick to the sides. However I don't know if I am missing something but I don't see any way to use it in daylight. It has two caps with entry holes for the liquids, but on the other side of the caps are rounded parts with no way for the liquid to drain. I thought maybe the rounded parts were detachable but it looks like they aren't. Is this meant to be used only in darkness? If so I may substitute my Beseler Drum "spout" since fortunately it fits but am I correct here? Photos attached. Thanks

There are baffles inside the end caps, stand the drum on end and pour in the chems, when turned on its side the chems are released into the drum. When finished with each step, stand the drum upright and the chems drain out. The cap that is dished inwards is where you pour in chems, ad the other end with the short spout is where they drain. You will have to fill the cap then measure the amount to know how much it requires.

Thanks very much, I tried this out with some water over the sink and I see how it works now.
