Good evening,

I just developed some Wephota NP22 sheet films in HC 110 dil H and my times were around 6 mn for good results!! Is that not strange??

I am used to dev times around 9 mn... What are your experiences?

I have no idea who makes the Wephota films, but if they are Foma OEM products, then it makes sense. Some of the Foma emulsions develop faster than most. Otherwise - not a clue. But if you get good results, who cares how long it takes?

Yeah I've never heard of that film. But 6 minutes seems more like a dilution B time than dilution H. I guess it doesn't matter that much if it works!

Wephota neither design films nor do they coat, though they once had made their paper custom made by Foma due to their Orwo formulas. However they are specialized in cutting sheets.
The films they sell under their Wephota brand origin from different manufacturers. Amongst them I assume Foma; their sales partner fellow member argus hinted at Efke and stated for the current films a German manufacturer.

I would think that it is strange for any film to be done in 6 minutes at dilution H...but with constant agitation that could about right. I have not used Foma, but my normal times for sheet film at dilution H are in the 10-20 minute range at 68F (although I do them at higher temp for less time). Was the film significantly overexposed or did you agitate zealously? Was your temp higher than normal? Can you give us some densitometer readings or a scan of the negative?

Foma films need 2/3rds the Dev times of most other films, so if it's of Foma origin that would makes sense.

However I was under the impression that the current Wephoto film was actually aerial film which is still made at one of the Agfa plants.

agX, that was correct for NP15 (25ASA) untill last year.

For your interest, Wephota now also has a 200ASA film (NP24). I have some sheets here for testing. NP27 (400ASA) will not be available untill next year.

For developing, I only have times for D76, Rodinal, Pyrocat and Tanol.

Kind regards,
Geert

NP-22 the film you asked about is listed as being Fomapan 100 in the link you posted :D

So that accounts for the short dev times, I tested the film myself 2 or 3 months ago and found that it only required 10 mins compared to my usuall 15 minutes for all other films in Pyrocat HD.
