I have just bought myself, from a charity shop, a Wembley Sports Camera c1950 - 56.

Takes 120 film, everything works, lens seems okay. Also comes with original fitted case.

I have a film ready (Ilford 125) which I had planned for another camera.

Although a basic Bakelite 1950's camera, is it any good??

Does anyone have one??

Well, you have the camera-- you say it works, and the shutter seems OK-- if the lens is reasonably clear, and you have film, I'd check it for light leaks and run a roll through it.

Then you can tell us.

Just had 1st film developed and negatives scanned. Results are better than I thought they might be. Sharp centre, but trailing off at edges.

The camera is bulky and slightly awkward to hold & operate, but once I used a few times it became easier.

One thing I had to be very careful about was the small lever switching from B (Bulb) to I (Instantaneous). It would sometimes move without warning, so a couple of shots were shaky because of this.

The one thing I did find most difficult was viewing the number of the film through the rather dark red/ruby window.

It was so difficult at times, I found it easier to wind on with strong bright daylight shining on the red window just to see the film number..... Thankfully the film didn't fog!
(It was either that or I use a torch on my phone to do it...)

8 exposures on 120 film. 6 came out (Missed 2 due to not seeing number before it was too late) of which 2 were shaky as mentioned.
