I got a pre-war welts welti that has a bad film transport. The transport does not engage the piece that holds/moves the film. camera does have the auto stop feature.

I'm thinking it shouldn't be too hard to repair if no parts are broken. Anyone have experience repairing these cameras.

have you made sure the key to wind the film is pushed all the way in, or that the re-wind button is not pushed in and stuck (if this is a 35mm camera)?

Sometimes if you don't, and close the back, the key is locked partially out and won't engage.

I can't imagine this is hard to fix.

here is a link to the manual: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/welta/welti/welti_i.htm

I have two Welti's.

One I inherited from my father, and it has the exact same problem with the winding mechanism. The other I bought to have a working one - it's a nice little camera!
Unfortunately the problem seems to be caused by a worn part in the winding mechanism which allows a worn gear to slip a little bit thus not engaging the next gear in the sequence.

Unfortunately all my earthly belongings are in boxes or will very soon be in boxes for moving, but I will have a closer look at it some time later this year.

Turns out nothing was wrong with the camera. I just the knob that disengaged the film advance in the wrong slot.
Doh.

It is now back in action. I'm glad as I really like this little camera And steinhell lens it has
