I tried to modify my Kodak Tourist II to take 120 spools instead of 620. Heaven knows I tried, but apparently I should not be allowed near a camera with a Dremel. Over ground the holding pins while removing the excess metal to the point where the film won't stay in anymore.

So I thought I'd take off the shutter and lenses for use on a AGFA Isolette with a bad shutter. Nope, what I have that needs work is 80mm and the Kodak is around 86.

Just one of those days I guess.

But now you have essential knowledge heretofore absent for the next time you set out to demolish photographic gear.

And knowing is half the battle.

If I had a dollar for every old camera I've destroyed making similar modifications....

Learning is definitely half the battle. I haven't destroyed a camera in almost two years and have saved three in that time from being destitute. Good luck!

Could you put a 6mm spacer on it?

Steve.

I'm not sure. I'm not very mechanically inclined. I was lucky today figuring out how to replace the watch batteries in two G-Shock watches. The bear was making sure that the seal is good when you put it back together. I would have sent them out to do it, but the places that do it don't guarantee the waterproofing on them and I figured I couldn't do any worse than they could.

Both watches survived and are working again.

If you have a look at my 6x12 camera link below, you will see the sort of pieces I can make with my CNC router at work. If you need a spacer made up and can do a dimensioned sketch , I could probably make something for you.

It looks like my plan of drilling a hole in the spindle and forcing a slightly larger nail into the hole worked. Can't use 120 spools in this camera, there is just too much metal to grind away and I'm afraid I'd make a hole clean through to the front if I tried. So I'll just have to learn to respool 120 film onto 620 in my dark bag!
