Well it finally happened I accidentally flashed a bunch of film. Anyone else do this recently?

Knew this day would come, still very sad… I forgot to back up the rest of the bulk film after rolling some 120, and flashed like 6 meter of 61mm Foto-100. I am thinking about maybe seeing if the film near the center of the roll is salvageable, but I really don’t think there is anything. It’s on a PET base so whole thing is probably fogged. Maybe it’ll make a good dummy roll for a video on rolling MF.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that has destroyed film like this, anyone else done similar recently?

My sympathies Such disasters usually happen only once as the memory of the mistake lasts a long time.o My one experience of similar ilk is using fix before developer by not placing the two cylinders at the the opposite end of the sink nor marking one cylinder with the word FIX in red dymo tape and using it permanently for that only

Oh I’ve done that too… with Aerochrone no less… I screamed. Loudly. My parents thought I hurt myself…

Yup. Before I left for Japan, I was hurriedly testing something with x-ray film. After quickly loading up some holders, I stupidly flicked the light on, not realising that I forgot to seal the bag that the 90 some odd sheets of fresh film were in... The top few sheets were pretty bad, but the remaining had about a cm band of fog on the edge. This box is now just for testing. 😬

You should check the end. Maybe you can cut it down to unperforated 35mm or 16mm for subs... maybe 2x16mm stripes... i mean depending on what color the plastic core is. If it is not black the end also could be impaired, but in between the beginning and the end you could have some unexposed material.

very much doubt it, this is Aviphot 200 rebranded. This film is infamous for light piping, and it was in room light for a good minute or 2 as I was packing stuff up before the “holy shit why can I see the film?!” moment occurred. I have also shown it in a video and a couple photos, to show how this type of film is packed nowadays.

I guess if anyone wants it they can let me know, but I’m not going to put it up for sale because I don’t think it’s even worth the cost of shipping tbh.

Make a short roll and test it. If it is bad, pull off a length of film and repeat until you find good film.

Box of Ilford Commercial Ortho. Loaded holders under my new LED safelight (tested safe including with Foma multigrade, more stringent than Ilford). Then read the fine print "very weak safety light". The films in the pile are fogged on on one side over 5-10mm. Put that side on the sky side of the scene, and/or crop. Lesson learned.
