I have been searching through the archives and it has been a while since these tubes were seriously discussed.

For those of you that are using these, and have used them for a while, have you found that you still like them? Are there any former users who ditched them because of problems? Are you using the 12 inch or 14 inch rod tubes for 8x10?

I never got the hang of tray processing, so I give up. I like my 5x7 tubes that I made but the materials for the 8x10 were really heavy. The rod tubes look good and you cannot beat the price.

J&C used to sell welding rod tubes at greatly inflated prices. :D

Mine are in the UK, but I'd guess 14". I bought them then Google'd the name on the bottom, and what a surprise the special film tubes were dirt cheap for normal rod storage

I tried some blue ones and they weren't even close to light tight....very disappointed. They were blow molded so I suspect that they wouldn't have been light tight even in black.

I have to ask; when the Bessler Unicolor drums and motor bases are going so cheap, why mess around with anything else?

The welding rod tubes where being sold a genuine film tubes by J&C, mine are perfectly light tight, they can be a better than Unicolor drums because you can use 3 or 4 & process simultaneously. I found I prefer tray processing, I got better results less chance of scratching etc.

I use them all the time and love them. They're light tight and water tight. You have to make sure that they're black ABS plastic. PVC is not light tight.
