Weird Results From Developing E-6

Just developed slide film for the first time. A few of the pictures had some weird things happen to them and I'm not sure what caused it. The first and third ones have some weird cloudy effect and the second one had part of the horizon straight up fall down.

If you examine the frame where the horizon has fallen into the sea, could it be that, instead, the emulsion has slipped on the base? If so, you probably had bits of emulsion (still with their color dyes) floating loose in one of the later baths (after color developer, for certain) that might have redeposited, leaving the blue and green blots on the other frames you posted.

The most likely causes of this are baths too hot (100F is what I recall for E-6) or something mixed wrong that's softening the emulsion far more than just being wet normally does.

I know the chemicals were at 85 but when I washed in between I was just using a faucet and winging it

I do not see anything that looks like emulsion detaching from the film base. IMO it looks like film warped on the reel and touched, blocking parts of some frames from developing. Where not affected, the images appear to have good density and color.

The emulsion also does not like rapid changes in temperature, i.e. going from warm chemicals to cold rinse back to warm chemicals. What film did you use? Expired? Steel of plastic reels? Did you notice bits of debris in your second developer of rinse water? Try using warmed water for your washes.

Just curious: how did you process these slides? Did you use a ready made kit? Which one?

Have you different kinds of films before, maybe with other processes?
