In a darkened room, open the back of the camera, and put a strip of translucent paper over where the film usually goes. Set the camera to "Bulb" and trip the shutter. Point the camera toward a window. You should see an upside down image of the window on the translucent paper. Do you see those lines on the inverted image?

If it is a problem with the shutter, you won't see it on "bulb" because the shutter is wide open. You'd only see the flaw/problem/hole when the shutter moves, which is too fast to monitor.

Hate to say it, but unless you're the kind that repairs your own gear, it's time to take it in for a checkup.

I'm starting to think that is going to be the only option. I'm going to talk with Steve at the camera clinic and get a quote for a repair.

I'm also going to contact the seller and see if I can get a partial or full refund since it was described as fully working.

My sympathies. I had a similar issue with a used camera I just got. I knew there was a chance it was damaged, though... but still! Dashed hopes are a sour taste, eh?

Hope it's not too expensive for ya.

Yeah me too.. I really like the T90. It's my first time working with one. I also picked up a couple A-1s recently and honestly I just absolutely preferred handling the T90. It was just so much more familiar and comfortable to me. Kind of reminds me of a Contax RTS III.

I wasn't planning on re-selling the camera I want this one to keep (even with its dings) so I'll probably just pay for the repair. I think it's around $120-130? I hope??

Just got a quote from Steve, it'll be $125 + shipping to fix my T90.
In all honesty it's probably worth it, because I'd spend at least that to take another chance at getting a working one.

Here's what I need to decide...

Do I spend the money fixing the T90, or do I just sell all my FD gear and buy an EOS 1n to use all my nice L lenses on?

Do you have EF L lenses? If so, get a 1N, great camera. If you have FD L lenses then no, sell them too if you want to get out of FD as it will be a pain to use them on EF if you can do it at all. But if you like the A-1 bodies then??? I have both though I now have 2 working FD bodies, a few in various states of not working and one totally dead while both my EF/EOS bodies are still going strong. However my EF L zooms are not as sharp it seems as even my non-L FD primes. Some days I don't want motor drive and then it is nice to have FD, they're much smaller too.

I preferred working with the T90 over the A-1. It just felt much more comfortable to me. I am selling one of the A-1s tomorrow and then the second one is also up for sale.

Here's what I have right now.

The T90 (and 300TL flash) w/ 28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8, 200mm f/2.8 (though a bit rough), 35-105mm f/3.5 and I was about to buy a 35mm f/2 and a 85-300mm f/4.5 (and probably sell the 200 in the process)

For EF I have the 630 body for film but I'm not particularly attached to it and a 5DmkII + 1DmkIII. I have a whole bunch of good glass for the EF mount as well, all Canon: 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye, 24mm f/1.4L II, 50mm f/1.2L, 135mm f/2L, 16-35mm f/2.8L, 24-70mm f/2.8L, 70-200mm f/2.8L.

Now part of the reason I was investing in some FD gear was also because I have a micro 4/3 system, and I was hoping to get the GH2 in the near future. I wanted to adapt all of these lenses onto the GH2 for video work as the EF lenses aren't the best because there's no aperture control when off the camera.
