For photography the weather/light is so important. Hence my original post which some may have thought strange.

Another forecast from Adelaide - yesterday was a beautiful Sunny winters day (I love it when the Sun shines in the middle of winter) with a top of 18 deg C (64 for those of you who still persist in using the antiquated temp measurement units). Today looks decisively crappy - still expected to get 17 C (62), but its very overcast and the wind feels rather brisk.

The oddest thing happened last weekend, though...we actually got snow in a few selected areas around Adelaide. Where I live we got some really wet sleet, but it was no where close to being cold enough for it to sit on the ground for more then a second or so. This is the first time I have ever known to get frozen non hail precipitation at my house.

Leaving winter down here in Oz and heading into Spring. Fine, sunny, a little breezy and ideal for a throttle on the MTB for lunch later. The cherry blossoms in the garden are blooming: that is a reminder the worst of winter has passed. Good!

Hoffy: we got snow flurries in Geelong and on the Great Divide on the same weekend snow fell at Mount Lofy in SA!

High 80's to low 90's on the coast of Florida at the Georgia border, 5 degrees hotter inland. Threats of rain are idle. Watching for hurricanes with fingers crossed.

That reminds me--not too long after Apollo 11 came Hurricane Camille. Can never forget that--cut across NC like hell on earth. Don't know why I inserted that.

Hoffy, a friend and his wife and baby daughter spent last weekend at Barmera and Lake Bonney. It hailed then snowed there (!) Hell's bells, last October I was sweltering in 36°c heat on the shores of Lake Bonney (and later came away with absolutely gob-smacking, arse-spanking, kick-ass beautiful pics...)

It's not much better in central Switzerland. Up in the mountains it's been 30-ish. Perfect weather for Sunny 16

I would never have imagined or known that Switzerland could get to 38°c! Heavens, it's many, many moons ago since I visited (1989): sunny and crisp from memory. But now... well, 38°c is along the eastern seaboard of Australia in Spring and in toward the outback; atomisers are great for squirting each other as a cool-off!

We actually made it up to 39 yesterday! In a country with no air con it is not fun. We should be a bit cooler for a few days but then we have 40 forecast for the end of next week :confused:. I'm praying to the weather gods not to make that happen.

These temperatures are a bit unusual here, it is the hottest it has been in my 16 years in the country and we are getting very close to the highest ever recorded temperatures.

July 29--high today of 68f, low last night was 44f !!!!!! This is mid to late September weather not July or August weather.

Here in Houston, Texas it's been hot and humid-typical summer weather. We've been getting a good amount of rain the past 2 months or so. And that's a good thing, 'cause that means there's no drought, or at least no extreme drought. This spring and summer have had lots of overcast skies-not the best lighting for photography most of the time.

but many still have a hot lunch, even if it's 40C+

The Mrs wants to go somewhere (maybe NY) for a "White Christmas". I'm not as enthusiastic!

Tell me about it, my mum's parents were both British born, and their side of the family still do the gamut of hot-served roast dead-things when all you want is ice-cream. My missus' family also do that too, so there's no escape for me.

The most climate-appropriate xmas lunch I ever had was at an ex's mum's place, prawns and lobster and nibbles in a shady garden in the hills.
Well that, and when I was 10 I had xmas in Finland, we went to the Father Christmas village on the arctic circle and ate Reindeer stew in a Reindeer-skin hut, and it was -35 outside...

It's 12C here at present, having only warmed up a few degrees since morning. Foggy as well here on top of Burnaby Mountain...and we know the photographic opportunities that present themselves (a 9 am walkabout the neighborhood and campus yielded 2 rolls - give or take - of HP5 (1600 ISO !). I had hoped to shoot some E100VS (sans tripod) of the fall colors, but light was insufficient. Perhaps another stroll in a couple of hours...

The fog has lifted here down at seaside (about a 45 minute drive from BradleyK). Skies are really grey though.

It was really misty yesterday. I and a bunch of others in my Darkroom Group were out at a farm in Pitt Meadows for an environmental portrait shoot. I'm looking forward to seeing the transparencies and TMY negatives.

No rain storms, wind storms, ice storms, snow storms, lightening, thunder, hail, tornados, typhoons, hurricanes, floods, iced-over roads, avalanches, downed trees, power outages, landslides, earthquakes, collapsed infrastructure, sunken ships, sunken floating bridges, or sky-darkening plagues of locusts.

At least today.

But this IS the Pacific Northwest. And tomorrow is another day...

After a rare day of rain last week it has warmed into the mid 80's here. It appears that it will be the same for several weeks. No clouds, low humidity. Great for star gazing.

Here in Florida we are just entering our dry season. The lower humidity makes it quit pleasant. Also temperatures should be keeping below 80F (27C).

Haha! When I lived in Scotland you could get them all within an hour..:crazy:The light was amazing though, especially on the West Coast.
