Ways to damage film on purpose?

i know exactly what you mean.

i've some sort of like that, they look like cave paintings
others look like microbiological enlargements and others
that look like some sort of weird computer generated "something"
but, like you say, they can only be done with film and chemicals

maybe this will reach you... dunno - my net is slower than a dead snail right now....

I'm led to understand that the following method makes for interesting and unusual images.

1. reflux the new, unexposed film over diethyl ether for 1-2 hours. Quench in xylene with added sodium metal.
2. After exposing, stand develop this film for 90 minutes in HC-110 concentrate at 50 C.

If you're looking for chemical ways to play, there's Mordançage - http://www.alternativephotography.com/wp/processes/mordancage/the-mordanage-background-and-process The chemicals are nasty, but there are lots of possibilities. Yes, it works on negatives, too. Though I'd suggest larger formats if you want any control. So far, I've only worked with prints for Mordançage, but I want to try negatives.
I don't know if other chemical alt process stuff work on negs, too, but look through the alt section at Freestyle for ideas. Chromoskedesic (spelling?) might work? Haven't tried it.
