Was there ever an enlarged 66 carrier for Omega/LPL enlargers?

You can get a 35mm carrier that will show the borders of the frame, but did they make them for 120 as well? I'm interested in a nice clean 6x6 borders. Just thought I would check before I purchase one to file/dremel out. I don't see them in the catalog which I find odd as it is such a popular look.

I don't believe so. A dremel is a bit of overkill. The metal is soft enough, a flat file will do the job nicely. If you can, modify a glass carrier--it will hold the film flatter after you've made the opening larger.

The borders on 6x6 are pretty narrow. I would be worried that an enlarged 6x6 carrier wouldn't be able to reliably hold a single negative.

You can use the 4x5 glass carrier it works great for printing borders on all sizes of medium format negatives.

For the 6x7 models: I've never checked on the exact opening of the 6x6 carriers vs the exact image size on my 6x6 negatives. I don't know of any oversized 6x6 carrier for the LPL, but the glass 6x7 negative carrier would give the option of opening the built in masks to a slightly wider opening for the horizontal dimension--no modification needed to do that. If any vertical opening additional width is needed, you can remove the masking blades and trim them a little--easier than working on the opening on the carrier.

If you have one of the 4x5 models, then the glass carrier can open to 6x6 or slightly larger without modification--just add the rather expensive masking frame to the enlarger..

I believe the LPL I'm picking up does have a 45 glass carrier so I can mask off the 6x6 area I want to print. That's honestly probably the best way to go. I'm not really so into the 'rough border' look for my own work.

Picking up my enlarger in a couple weeks and I cannot wait!

My 4x5 LPL has carriers filed by the previous owner. So far as I know they aren’t available oversized.
Holding the negative flat with mine isn’t a problem. As mentioned, you don’t need a Dremel and using one would be a big mistake unless you have a really steady hand. A file or perhaps even better, some sandpaper held on a flat sanding block will do the deed in minutes.

You don't need to get a rough border--use the easel blades to determine the width of the border. If the carrier opening is wide enough, the inside edge is the film border, the outside edge is determined by the easel blades. Just make sure everything is squared up.

Also, a 6x7 or 6x9 negative carrier would take care of 2 of the edges.

I would use a glass 4x5 carrier (You need one anyway) and mask it off just right.

I just took a look at my Omega 6x6 glass carrier. The bottom glass and opening is much larger than the top, so it is simply a job of filing the top opening to suit your taste.
