Hello there,

What brand of warm tone VC paper would you recommend and what would be your developer's choice? In terms of result, which combo would give me a "Agfa Record Rapid"-like tone?

Thanks for your contributions!

I really like Ilford MGRC developed in Ilford Multi-Grade paper developer. It is very rich and the developer has an astounding shelf life. With fiber, I sepia tone

I can second that, but using the fiber base paper you will get an even more warm image, also look into the Ilford Harman warmtone developer, the combination FB warmtone with the warmtone developer gives a really nice result.
It also looks like the longer you wash the paper the warmer the tone becomes. I dont use any tone except selenium for archiving purpose, so i dont know how the result would come out with the warmtone developer and a sepia toning.

There exist also a coldtone developer from Harman, also some really nice result with that one.

cheers

That's not true I'm afraid. IIRC it was discontinued back in 2007 and it's not listed at Ilford's website.

ohoo sorry, i thought that it still where produced because I can still buy at my local photo store. I did notice that it was not listed, but didnt think of it more, because if you open the pdf specifying the warmtone developer they also speak about the coldtone....

well, its a pity because its a pretty cool ( developer..

thanks for the clarification

cheers

Thanks, I didn't even know that type of paper existed. I will look into ordering some today

You might try Adox Variotone WT fiber (semi-matte) in Ethol LPD 1:4. It looks like a cold tone paper when first developed, but it tones beautifully and has a nice finish.

Have you thought about the Foma mc classic, nice and warm with most developers
