Want to have an SRT200 repaired

My dad, who is now retired, has shown me his Minolta SRT200 the last couple of times I've been to his place to visit. Today he was remarking about how good the pictures it took looked. I speak about it in the past tense because it stopped advancing the film several years ago. I have the feeling he'd like to have it repaired, even if it's just for the occasional photo. I did a quick search, and while I know Eric Henderson works on Pentax cameras (I'm a Pentax guy), I have no clue who works on old Minoltas such as the SRT200. Could some kind soul please point me in the right direction? I figured I'd ask here first and probably wouldn't be steered wrong.

I have seen John Titterington mentioned for Minoltas a few times although I have not used his services.

John completely overhauled my SRT 101 three years ago, and updated the battery from mercury to the current cells. He did a fine job and was very reasonable. I'm guessing the film advance problem is minor and can be remedied during overhaul. John described his work as "complete disassembly", and please note this is an entirely different ballgame, and far superior from someone saying they are doing a "CLA" (whatever that is). A CLA could be almost anything. I suggest you ask the tech what the plan is. Sorry if I have beat that point to death, as you may know this already.

I highly recommend John Titterington. My experience is that he is excellent to do business with.

It appears then that the consensus is that John Titterington is The Man to go to for Minolta repairs. Thank you all very much. I will talk to Mom and find out for sure if Dad would like to have this camera repaired. It would make a nice Christmas present for him, I think.

You may even want to consider buying another one from eBay as they go pretty cheap. Although i fully understand wanting that one fixed for sentimental reasons. I'm not in the business of fixing cameras, but as a collector i have had quite a few Minolta's apart for repair and they are complex inside. Make sure the self timer is not stuck halfway through it's cycle. If my memory serves me correctly when that is stuck the shutter won't fire and it won't advance if the shutter is already cocked.

Not a Minolta specialist, but I would use Garry's Camera Repair (www.garryscamera.com) for something like this.

not sure about the srt200, but the 101 had adjustable shutters and meters on the bottom of the camera once the case was off. never adjusted them myself, but i got xg-ms back to factor specs on the shutter speeds and new caps. (lot of soldering on thin old boards, arrg.)
i was gearing up the adjust the light meters, but never did.
unless you very comftable with soldering, and small mechanical parts, send it off to some one who knows.
