My Busch Pressman (MF) has no focus screen or holder for one. I've had the camera 4 years and would like to get it functional when I return to the UK

Either I need a frame & screen, or just the frame, failing that a medium format film pack holder which I can convert.

That would be very helpful Dan, let me know if you can find it. I can buy a Busch Film pack holder very cheaply but the sellers postage price is to 5 times the actual cost, amking it uneconomic.

It really is fotch. It's a fantastic resource that often people don't make enough use of. It probably needs a new thread - you can start it

I've posted quite a few wanted adverts now and one persons spare is someone else's need. It's about helping each other it's not just sales and wanteds though. Last year while back in the UK I helped a student get started with LF for his University work also with his LF scanning, I've done similar before when people have been unsure what type of 5x4 to buy. I've also lent spare equipment, LF lenses etc and across International bondaries.

There's a need to improve the sharing of skills & knowledge as well as shifting spare equipment in the right directions, that comes from us though not Sean. This is a great site and we as members need to make it better.

Possibly the major area that needs addressing is helping new, I'll PM you that bit

They are the kin of thing you could search years for without resources like APUG and I'd guess there are very few Pressman camera's in the UK, I don't think they were ever imported.

Here in the US they are cheaper because most everyone goes for a Speed or Crown Graphic etc.

I've not come across any UK adverts for Busch Pressman Camera's and even Graflex's weren't that common pre-WWII although Kodak did advertise & sell them with British lenses in the 20's, later at some point in the 30's Folmer themselves began to advertise them but with their US address. Kodak still sold them through their professional outlets but didn't distribute them.

After WWII under the UK Government's austerity measures it was almost impossible to import foreign made cameras. Graflex got around this with some kind of deal with MPP, and the MPP MicroPress is a collaborative camera with the shutter, focus-rail, front standard & bellows made by Graflex and the case made by Celestion, a loudspeaker manufacturer (same owners as MPP) then assembled by MPP.

Pre-WWII British press cameras often had better features than the Graflex's with rotating backs, more movements, and there were many Germna cameras available as well.

Graflex later couldn't compete with the MPP Technical camera's which were based on the 1939 Linhof's and vastly superior, that eventually led Graflex to design the Super Graphics but they were 20 years too late.
