If you like Roberts Frank's photographs in "The Americans", Winterthur Switzerland is the place to go for you, but you must make your way before close of play on November 20th. I visited the exhibition last Saturday, and was - of course - impressed. This exhibit was in London and Barcelona a few months ago, and in Winterthur the display, as if it hadn't been good enough before, was topped up with a great lot of photos owned by Fotostiftung Schweiz / Fotomuseum Winterthur. I was completely stunned by the clarity, simplicity and yet complexity in Franks photographs which he made from the early fifties and onwards. And also, the documentation of his transition into film was very interesting. My 4-year old daughter showed good interest in the photographs too, and remarked at some point: Ah, so there are also other people taking many photographs !
