Hi everybody, first time poster here!

Basically, what should I get for my Canon 9000F, SilverFast or Vuescan? I've tried the 6.6 SE version of Silverfast, and I don't really like the interface of it, but since there's a new version out I thought I might try that instead. But then I noticed that VueScan is a LOT cheaper than Silverfast, so...

Which one do you guys like, and why, and what do I get in the 400+ dollar silverfast version that I don't get in the Pro version of Vuescan?

Can't you still download the free trial version of both and thus be able to know which is best for your particular preferences/way of working? With that said, if Silverfast for that scanner really is $400 like you said, I can't imagine putting that kind of investment into a $150 scanner, especially since you didn't like the previous version of Silverfast and I bet the new version has a lot of similarities to the old one.

I've bought the 9000f about two weeks ago and bundled version of SilverFast spent a grand total of five minutes on my hard drive. The Canon's scanning app was okay for starters, but yeah, I've downloaded VueScan and fiddled with it for the better part of this weekend. Currently my workflow consists of exporting DNG RAWs and processing them in LR. I still haven't figured out the 'correct' (for me) exposure settings/friggin' histograms.

Tried both, and I couldn't live with Vuescan, I guess I'm too used to the Canon software. I also tried the version 8 of Silverfast, and it was a lot better, and luckily Silverfast gives a discount when you upgrade from the bundled version that came with the scanner, so I can get an update for 25€ - 150€. Now I just have to figure out if I need the SE, Pro, or Ai Version
