I got a free, Microtek Artixscan 120tf. Yes, for free! I've been struggling to get batch scans with vuescan and the 120 holder. The holders can fit 5 645 negs and 4 6x6 negs, which are the only medium format that i shoot. It seems that Vuescan scans the actual film holder first, and then the negative. I found the following link the link below, that pertains to a nikon coolscan 9000. Seems that a guy figured out how to batch scan 6x6 negs and have everything perfectly spaced. Well i cant seem to quite get it the same. Sure, the scanners are different but the concept remains the same.

Has any vuescan user figured out how to get near perfect batch scanned frames?

You could also try a 0 for frame spacing and make your crop land in the middle space. Make sure you click on "all frames" in your crop settings.

There is also a multi crop setting in Vuescan, but I've never used it. That might do what you want after you preview it.

Alternatively, buy an old computer that will run the software that was native to the scanner. I keep an old Powerbook around for the Nikon scanner when I want the color to be great without messing around with it. NikonScan works better than Vuescan for that, although for black and white Vuescan blows it away. Same with the old Canon scanner I have. Not as convenient though.

If all else fails, the best way to handle scanning a lot of frames at the same time is to set the preview resolution and the scan resolution the same. Then preview the whole area. When that is done, draw your crop over the first frame and hit SAVE. Then move the crop over the next frame and hit SAVE. Continue until you are done.

Hope that helps you.

It does, thanks, I set it to batch scan 1-4 for four frames of 6x6. frame spacing and auto offset set to when i prescan it find the first two frames and draws a outline quite well. But that's it. Vuescan wont detect frame three and four. A

So i figured it out. I scan the first frame as usual, and as usual much of the acutal film holder is in the scan. I then draw a crop box, to measure the distance from the top of the scan to the top of the first frame of film. I enter the height into frame offset as a positive value. Then i draw a crop box from the top of the first frame (emulsion not rebate) to the top of the second frame. I enter that positive value into frame spacing. I set batch scan to list 1-4, and i un-click all frames in the crop tab.

I hit preview and i get 4 prescans, i cycle threw and draw a unique crop box around each of them. I then hit scan and i get perfect scans!!!
